What are the Computational Roles of Neuromodulation?

Jean-Marc Fellous

In this workshop we will try to build a working definition of what many experimentalists refer to as 'neuromodulation'. We will first address its spatio-temporal characteristics. Through a review of the modeling work that has addressed neuromodulation in some details, we will then attempt to classify neuromodulations according to their computational aspects (rather than their neurochemical or anatomical aspects). We will finally try to identify theoretical and experimental frameworks suitable for future studies that will further our understanding of the computational roles of neuromodulation. Experimentalists and theoretician are both strongly encouraged to attend and participate. For further infos and suggestions contact Jean-Marc.
